Flowering Plants

Azalea
The shape of the bloom is very close to what you would know as the azalea flower in your yard. These plants though are greenhouse grown and are only available early in the year. They make a lavish display of color and will hold up for about 3 weeks on the job. They come in red, pink, white, and several mottled combinations.

Bromeliad
The Bromeliad family is HUGE. Within it you can find a wide range of colors, textures, shapes, and patterns. A single plant will make a big statement while carefully combining several varieties will create an impressive flower arrangement. These are versatile, design oriented, cost-effective plants that will show their color for 2 - 2.5 months on the job.

Caladium
Yes they are flowers. No they are not! They are bulbs which produce a very showy leaf. In any color rotation, they bring a lot to the palette. The color choices are striking and wide ranging: green with white; white with green; red with green edges; white with red veins; pink with green veins? and on and on. They will last at least 3 weeks on the job.

Croton
The Croton "Petra" has some resistance to spider mites which makes it desirable in the interior. The plant still requires a very sunny location. We use the 6? size in our color rotations.

Cyclamen
A delicate flower sitting atop a perky, upright stem which rises out of a bed of nicely variegated foliage. The leaves of the plant range from dark green with a touch of silver to an almost totally silver leaf with an edge of gray/green color. For commercial environments, these are best used massed together for greatest impact. Expect to last 2 weeks on the job.

Kalanchoe
This is a true work horse of any flower rotation. Bright pink, red, orange, and fuchsia are the color palette for this great flower. They mix beautifully with the bromeliad family. The bloom is a tiny flower, but with hundreds of them atop bright green waxy leaves. They make a fabulous display when the multi colors are massed together. Expect this to last 3 weeks on the job.

Orchid
Although this is a huge family of flowering plants, there is a limit to the varieties available for commercial use. As part of a flower rotation, they offer an elegant and sophisticated look when planted in a bowl arrangement. They are understated and deserve a position of importance. A little dramatic lighting adds the finishing touch. Despite their fragile look, they are hard workers that can last 3-4 weeks on the job.

Poinsettia
The traditional red plant is always the favorite. However, extensive breeding has produced various shades of pink, a mottled version of red and pink, a cream color, double bloom varieties, and more. A flower program always includes the poinsettia at the holidays. They too are hard workers, but be kind and do not ask them to look good for more than 4 weeks. For commercial interiors where an early display is required, expect to use 2 deliveries of these seasonal bloomers.

Gloxinia
The bloom from this plant can only be referred to as luscious and luxurious. The typical 6? Cyclamen will have about 5-7 bell shaped blooms, each one 3? long and 2? wide. Color choices are mostly purple and red, but some variegation adds to the selection. The foliage of the plant offer large, textured, dark green leaves that serve as a nesting background for the blooms. You can expect color from this plant for 2 weeks.
